Acupuncture for Women’s Health
A woman’s health needs can change significantly throughout her life. Menstrual cycles, fertility, pregnancy, perimenopause and menopause can each bring their own physical and emotional challenges.
Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine offer a personalized, complementary approach to women’s health. Rather than focusing on a single symptom, treatment considers the broader picture—including your cycle, sleep, stress, digestion, energy, pain and overall health.
Every treatment plan is individualized to where you are, what you’re experiencing and what you would like support with.
How acupuncture can help
Fertility support
Whether you’re trying to conceive naturally or undergoing IUI or IVF, acupuncture can be incorporated alongside your fertility care. Treatment may also support menstrual health, stress, sleep and overall well-being throughout your fertility journey.
Menstrual health
Acupuncture may help support women experiencing painful or irregular periods, PMS, menstrual headaches and other cycle-related concerns. Treatment looks at your entire cycle—not just the days when symptoms are at their worst.
Perimenopause & menopause
Hot flashes, night sweats, disrupted sleep, changes in mood and energy, headaches and brain fog can significantly affect daily life. Acupuncture provides an individualized approach to supporting your well-being throughout this transition.
Care designed around you
Women’s health is never one-size-fits-all. Treatment considers your symptoms as a whole and is designed to complement—not replace—appropriate medical care.
What your treatment plan may look like
Hormonal health is rarely a quick fix. Symptoms and patterns can change over time, which is why your treatment plan is designed to evolve with you. We regularly reassess your progress and adjust your care based on how your body responds.
-
Comprehensive first visit
Your first appointment includes an in-depth health history covering your cycle, sleep, energy, temperature, mood and other relevant symptoms, along with an AcuGraph assessment. Your first acupuncture treatment is provided during the same visit.
-
Active treatment
Treatment typically begins with more regular sessions while we monitor your progress and identify which symptoms are changing. Your treatment plan is continually adjusted based on your response and evolving needs.
-
Ongoing care
As symptoms improve and become more manageable, appointments can gradually be spaced further apart. Some patients choose to continue with periodic treatments for ongoing support or schedule additional care when symptoms become more noticeable.
Your questions, answered
Can acupuncture replace hormone therapy?
No. Acupuncture is a complementary healthcare practice and is not a substitute for appropriate medical diagnosis or treatment. Decisions about hormone therapy belong with your physician, and acupuncture can sit alongside whatever you and they decide.
How many treatments will I need?
There isn’t one answer that applies to everyone. Hormonal patterns generally respond over a series of treatments rather than a single visit. We will discuss your plan together and reassess your progress as we go.
What should I track before my first visit?
Anything you have noticed a pattern in: sleep, hot flashes, cycle changes, energy through the day, mood, headaches. You do not need to arrive with records, but the more detail you can give me, the more precisely I can work.
Is treatment covered by insurance?
Most private insurance plans in New Brunswick cover acupuncture. You will receive a receipt after every session to submit to your provider.
